Guardians of the Graveyard.
There is a very old cemetery in Buckeye. Today while helping a friend find a
family member's gravesite, we were watched constantly by several
of these Burrowing Owls. They would move silently from perch to perch.
We wouldn't hear them moving, but we would look up and there they were.
They take their vigil seriously and were very happy when we left.

Goodyear Historical Cemetary
The Goodyear Farms Historic Cemetery was established around 1916 to serve the needs of employees of Goodyear Farms and the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park. Over half of the graves are unmarked today as they were marked with wooden crosses with the names and dates painted onto them. A large number of people buried here were victims of the Great Flu Epidemic.
