Sometimes it's just smarter to use garden art instead of trying to keep things growing here in the southwest desert. This cactus requires very little water to thrive. They make some really amazing ironwork pieces.
I think it looks fantastic! I love the shape of agave plants and, oddly enough, rusty iron, and I'm useless in the garden — so this is perfect for me! ;)

I wish someone would make me a bunch of garden art tomato plants that grow real tomatoes! Or garden art flowers that really bloom.
