No Crying In Baseball

I'm away from the Valley taking care of some family matters for the next few weeks, and this photo is one of the photos I have taken on my trip.

This is Huntingburg League Stadium in Huntingburg, Indiana, where the baseball scenes in the movie, "A League of Their Own" were filmed.

Most of the stadium was built in the early 1990's as a set for the movie. The field and a small portion of the grandstand existed prior to the filming. The almost completely covered grandstand is made entirely of wood. Some of the artwork from the movie still exists today, including the Rockford Peaches sign below the scoreboard.

Dorothy "Dottie" Kamenshek, who was portrayed by Gina Davis, passed away on May 21st.

Thanks for a great bit of nostalgia. Hope to hear and see more of it while you're on your trip.

As I am not a baseball fan I tend to ignore it. This is a very good way for me to get educated on the matter, thks.

Great shot! Great day! Craving another like it! Thank you for giving me a reason to reexplore my own world and see things I drive by every week, at least, and never even glance at! xxoo

How neat to see the actual playing field. I saw the movie too. MB
