Things of Days Gone By

I haven't seen a phone booth in years. Not that this one had a working phone
in it, but it was a nice memory from the past. I staked it out for awhile waiting
to see if Clark Kent showed up...not such luck.

Yep, ya don't see many of these anymore.
I think Clark retired to the country with Lois and crazy Jimmy. MB

Wow, this is a rare seen! I don't think I've seen one like this in years.

We hardly see any in the city. I photograph them every time I find one.

The name on this phone booth is US West, which is not the name of the company any longer.

Dave brings up a good point. The company no longer exists, so did they just abandon all their phone booths? Is it free for the taking like discarded trash? It's amazing that no one has procured it for their collection yet. Are there wires still attached? Will it fit in my truck? Can one lone blogger carry such a thing? All good questions to contemplate. :)

Now THAT's a picture I want to see-- Magpie trudging along the side of the road with this strapped to her back! I don't know why, but I agree it would be kind of a fun thing to have. Maybe I could go in there with my cell phone and actually have a phone conversation without constant interruption!

Wow! A US West phone booth! I didn't know there were any of them left. Since Qwest took over the company over ten years ago, I haven't seen that name. My husband worked for the phone company for 35 years, but of course when he started working there it was called "Mountain Bell". Some antiquer will surly grab this up. Cool find.

Have a lovely day!

This is probably the only reason why you can still find some: Superman in need for a change of clothes. I mean, why else???

Funny you should post this. I was just speaking with somebody about how these things are nearly obsolete. I had to use one about a month ago and felt like I was stepping into a time machine.

Maybe Clark Kent didn't show up because this is really the phone booth from Ted and Bill's Excellent Adventure! Careful you don't step in and close the door. Dude, whoa!

While everybody has cell phones these days, how many people have change anymore? What could a phone call cost? So many questions. Wish there was someone to call for the answers.

Wow I haven't seen one of these in years. What no signs of the cape?

I haven't seen a phone booth like this in years too.

In my city, Clark uses something else entirely. :D

Love this photo! There is actually still a working phone booth (althought I'm sure it doesn't say US West) down by the state capitol on Jefferson Street!

Lois Lane had too much in the job jar. ;) Fun to see these old booths. Remember when we had to pull over to use the phone. Wish we could go back to those days.
