Skywatch Friday - Brush Fire

This photo was taken in the summer of 2008. It's what happens in Arizona when the lightning from the summer storms meets the dry brush in the river bottom.  Although, it looks close to the houses, it is miles beyond them.  Visit here to enjoy other takes on Skywatch Friday.

What a magnificent photo. You got it all in one click, even the mountains in the background. And is that by chance an American flag I see in the lower left corner? This one should be entered in a contest.

What an incredible picture! I have tried many times to capture lightning and never succeeded. Lightning AND fire?!? Not so nice for those poor little houses, but pretty awesome for us to look at!

I think Magpie sent this into one of the local TV stations and got it shown over the broadcast. I love this photo.

@Lizziviggi: I take lightning pictures all the time with my dad's digital camera! Well, weather permitting, of course. But if you're having trouble getting the perfect shot (believe me, I know how it feels) try prolonging the exposure on your camera. That's what I do, and I get great pictures! (although getting the timing just right is a bit of guess and pray) Haha, no worries- you'll get great shots if you just keep at it!
