Skywatch Friday - Bird of Prey

Nancy and I were driving down the road one day trying to sneak up on this bird that was sitting on top of a pole to take a photo. Just as we got closer another car came down the road in the opposite direction and scared him away.

We're not really sure what kind of bird this was. An osprey maybe?

Please enjoy additional great sky photos at Sky Watch Friday.

I does look like an Osprey. Two lunch shots in a row. Things we sometimes never see. Excellent shot. MB

I don't even know what as osprey looks like. I'm a flower girl! I hope someday to have a camera good enough to take pictures of birds. This is one good shot!

And the lighting adds to the uniqueness of the shot, bravo!

Absolutely awesome photo, Tracy! I vote for osprey. Are they usually in the desert, though?

Happy weekend, everyone. This was one day when it was better to be lucky than to be good.

Thanks for stopping by this week.

I'm not sure everyone...my brother had his resident biologist take a look at the photo and he was told it is a juvenile Red Tail Hawk and most likely a dove it's carrying. I guess for where we are in Arizona, that makes sense.

I think Osprey, also, and what a great capture.
