Bell - Theme Thursday

Bells resonate with me. If one were to judge by how often
they reverberate through songs and works of literature,
it would be safe to say I'm not alone. There are times
the words just clang inside my head and ring so true my
fingers vibrate to pull the lines out of the jangle of my thoughts.
The keys on my typewriter just tinkle like the pitter patter of
raindrops striking a metal roof before they're drowned out
by peals of thunder.
Feel free to chime in and let me know if my thoughts alarm you.

Here are some truly great writers who feel a fondness for bells also:

"A bell's not a bell 'til you ring it,
A song's not a song 'til you sing it,
Love in your heart wasn't put there to stay,
Love isn't love 'til you give it away."
Oscar Hammerstein II

"Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind;
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
it tolls for thee."
John Donne

"He hath a heart as sound as a bell,
and his tongue is the clapper,
for what his heart thinks, his tongue speaks."
William Shakespeare

Please enjoy my friends' takes on "bell" also at Theme Thursday
